Stitch Fix expands Vision AI for on-demand personalized outfit generation

Stitch Fix has expanded its Vision AI platform to let users generate images of themselves in recommended outfits on demand, moving beyond weekly automated suggestions. For commerce teams, this shift to real-time, customer-controlled visual personalization demonstrates how generative AI can deepen engagement and reduce friction in the try-before-you-buy discovery loop.

Stitch Fix is expanding its AI-powered style visualization hub, Stitch Fix Vision, to enable on-demand image generation (Retail Dive - Technology). Users can now upload selfies through the mobile app and generate images of themselves wearing recommended outfits by selecting "See it on me" on desired looks. The app stores these AI-generated looks in a vision gallery to create a personalized library of style inspiration.

Previously, Vision sent personalized outfit imagery to clients once a week; the expansion shifts control to users, who can now create images on demand (Retail Dive - Technology). Stitch Fix introduced Vision in October 2025, drawing from billions of data points about client preferences combined with generative AI and stylist expertise. For commerce practitioners, this represents a critical pattern: moving AI-driven personalization from batch delivery to real-time, user-initiated interaction—reducing decision friction and enabling customers to visualize themselves in curated selections before purchase.

The expansion follows Stitch Fix's strong third-quarter performance, with net revenue rising 4.7% year-over-year to $340 million and active clients growing to 2.3 million (Retail Dive - Technology). The company recently appointed Sree Sreedhararaj as chief product and technology officer to oversee data science and technology strategy, signaling continued investment in AI-driven capabilities.
