Retailgentic has announced the launch of RetailPlaybook, a new channel dedicated to helping brands and sellers optimize for agentic commerce on major retail platforms (Retailgentic). The newsletter and companion podcast, authored by Andrew Bell (VP of Research at Retailgentic), focuses on Amazon's Alexa for Shopping, Walmart's Sparky, and Target Shopping Assistant. The channel will publish research, playbooks, and strategies designed for both 1P brands and 3P sellers, with an initial focus on Amazon before expanding coverage to Sparky and Target.
The launch reflects growing urgency among established brands and retailers facing disruption from AI shopping agents. Retailgentic reports talking to hundreds of brands weekly and observing top-ranked incumbents losing ground to nimble competitors who understand agentic commerce optimization (Retailgentic). These retailer agents, built on large language models, have introduced new risks—including hallucinations like falsely claiming products are kosher or vegan—requiring specialized optimization strategies.
RetailPlaybook complements Retailgentic's broader coverage of answer engines and agentic commerce trends. The inaugural substack article and podcast episode are now live, with video content available on YouTube, positioning the channel as a dedicated resource for practitioners navigating rapid shifts in how consumers discover and purchase products on major retail platforms.
