Shopify announced its Spring Edition with a focus on agentic commerce features (Retailgentic). The release includes four major capabilities: Agentic Admin, which gives merchants a centralized dashboard to manage orders, sales, and conversions from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, and Shop; Shop Campaigns, which expands to Pinterest, ChatGPT, and the open web via Microsoft Monetize on a performance-based model; Sidekick App Extensions, which connect third-party apps to Shopify's merchant-facing AI assistant; and a personalized shopping assistant in the Shop App that learns buyer preferences over time.
For commerce practitioners, Agentic Admin includes search intelligence showing top AI queries in a merchant's category and which products rank for them (Retailgentic). A Knowledge Base feature surfaces questions AI agents ask about a brand that remain unanswered—such as return policies, shipping details, retail locations, or bulk order information—and lets merchants provide authoritative answers that agents reference instead of generating responses from scraped content (Retailgentic). Sidekick App Extensions launched with 15+ partners including Klaviyo, Loop, Judge.me, and others, with no additional cost to developers or merchants (Retailgentic). These tools enable merchants to optimize visibility across multiple AI channels, respond to customer inquiries at scale, and integrate AI-powered workflows across their existing app stack.
The Shop App's personalized shopping assistant is built on Shopify's commerce infrastructure—including Shopify Catalog, Shop Pay identity, and merchant integration points—positioning the company to compete in the growing market for agent-driven shopping experiences (Retailgentic). Merchants will need to evaluate how these tools integrate with existing platforms and whether cross-channel performance metrics justify investment in agentic commerce channels.
